Vision and Values
THE ALLENTON WAY
Our ethos is to educate the whole child; academically, socially and emotionally. A child's journey through our school will:
develop their academic knowledge and understanding;
raise their aspirations;
provide access to a wide range of experiences;
broaden their understanding of the world around them;
have a positive impact on their future.
We foster lifelong learning skills through our four Learning Superheroes:
These equip children to learn effectively, gain independence and overcome challenges.
Their time in school will enhance their lives and support them to become citizens who contribute positively to their community and the wider world.
At Allenton Primary School, we recognise that school is a place to develop all aspects of a child. Quality first teaching is central to this. The principles below detail how this is achieved.
Set high expectations and give the learner confidence to succeed;
Develop the whole child;
Develop the learner’s thinking skills and personal qualities;
Establish what learners already know, planning and adapting from this point;
Ensure that children are aware of progressive steps to improve their work;
Structure and pace learning experiences to make them challenging yet accessible;
Inspire learning through passion for the subject;
Ensure pupils understand the purpose for learning the subject;
To ensure explicit teaching and modelling of these strategies, the Learning Superheroes are embedded within our teaching and learning sequences and strategies.
