Year 5

Welcome to Year 5!

Hello and welcome to Year 5.  The Year 5 teachers are Mr Bright - Amethyst Class and Mr Oliver - Rhodolite Class.

We are supported in class by Miss Martin.

School times: We start school at 8.50am and finish at 3.30pm Monday to Friday.

Dinners: Your child is welcome to have a school meal (choice of a hot meal or sandwiches) or they can bring their own sandwiches from home. Meals cost £2.20.  If you believe that you are entitled to free school meals please speak to the office. You can find our latest menus under the tab 'Information for Parents' - 'Lunch Menu'.

PE: In Year 5class we have PE on Wednesdays.  On this day children should come to school in their PE kit and make sure they are dressed suitably for colder weather! All jewellery (including ear rings) must be removed before PE (preferably before school starts). This is for health and safety.  If for any reason your child cannot remove their ear rings they will need to be covered by tape or plasters.

Swimming:

As part of the P.E. National Curriculum, the Year 5 children will be swimming on a Thursday morning at Moorways Swimming Pool. This will start on Thursday 15th September. Children will be walking to and from the leisure centre. It essential that they are sent with weather appropriate clothing.

Children will need to bring a one-piece swimming costume, and a towel. Boys must wear swimming trunks or swimming shorts which are above the knee.  Wearing a swimming hat is optional. Swimming goggles are strongly advised but not essential. Children will be provided fruit, at school, after swimming as normal.

To protect your child and prevent accidents no jewellery (including ear piercings) should be worn in the swimming pool. If ear piercings cannot be removed they must be covered with tape or plasters and a swimming hat must also be worn.   If your child usually wears earrings to school please ensure that these are removed before school on Thursdays.
